About Drawing Therapy

Essentially black and white, drawing creates studies of line and form and from this the interplay of dynamic light and darkness. Pencil drawing sharpens the mind, our ability for objective thinking. Form Drawings of continuous, unbroken lines work the fluid qualities of the etheric. Broken lines call upon our will forces. Studies in light, darkness, and shadow speak to our feelings. Using color in drawing allows subjectivity to flourish.

Shaded drawing is a technique that Rudolf Steiner used in his own drawings and recommended for its artistic/therapeutic qualities. It is a style where light infused forms are created by applying parallel slanted strokes that bring darkness into the light on white paper. This is meditative and ego strengthening.
